David González Marcos takes over as winemaking director at Viña Salceda, implementing a radical change in the management of the company’s own vineyards.
With more than 25 years of experience in the sector, he has stood out as one of the pioneers in the rediscovery of old vines in hidden areas of La Rioja, such as the Garnacha vines in the Alto Najerilla subzone.
Investment has been boosted, incorporating new vineyards and adjusting the harvest to obtain the maximum expression of each vineyard. Grape supply has also been transformed, accessing outstanding suppliers and adding grapes from prestigious areas such as Sonsierra and Valle de Najerilla. Additional investments were made in premium oak barrels and the introduction of concrete eggs and vats to improve future winemaking.
